The Trip
The overview.
The Guadalupe below Canyon Dam is the southernmost trout fishery in the United States, a hill-country tailwater that holds rainbows year-round in the cold water of the release. We put in below the dam and wade the seams and bends downstream, working dry-dropper rigs through the shade lines.
This is our home water, and the trip that started the collective. The flow can change when the dam releases, so we watch the schedule and adjust. The Friday-night fish fry is non-negotiable.
